Scrub the Hub Action Group disbands

Breaston Scrub the Hub logoFollowing HS2 Ltd Chairman, Sir David Higgins’ announcement on Tuesday 14th July 2015 confirming that Toton was the only location being considered for the East Midlands' HS2 Hub and Breaston is no longer on the cards, the Breaston ‘Scrub the Hub’ Action Group are both delighted and relieved that sense has prevailed, endorsing ‘regeneration over devastation’ and thus ending the campaign on a successful note.

Breaston Parish Council

Breaston Parish Council is the first step on the local government ladder, succeeded by Erewash Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council.

The Parish Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month (except August) at 7-30pm in the Parish Council Meeting Room on Blind Lane. The first 15 minutes are set aside for matters raised by members of the public. All parishioners are welcome to attend.

Details of the Parish Council sub-committees are available on the Parish Council website.

The Annual Parish Meeting takes place in the spring of each year: it is advertised on village noticeboards and on the website.

Breaston Conservative Association

Breaston Conservative Branch is the local branch of the Erewash Conservative Association. Members meet regularly and numerous social and political events are arranged throughout the year. The thriving branch is responsible for assisting in organising the Conservative parliamentary election and organising the local election in Breaston, and for sponsoring Conservative candidates in local elections. If you are interested in and would like further information, please contact the secretary. The branch has close links with our local (Erewash) MP Jessica Lee.

Breaston Conservative Coffee Club

Breaston Conservative Coffee Club meets on the 3rd Wednesday each month (except August) at the Navigation Inn at 9.45 am for Coffee and biscuits followed by a Speaker on differing subjects each month.

Breaston & Draycott Labour Party

The Breaston and Draycott Branch has an informal and friendly style and tries to be inclusive, and at the same times allows Labour Party members an opportunity to discuss matters of a local, national and international interest. It produces a local newsletter; the Breaston Rose.  It is part of the Erewash Constituency Labour Party.

The Secretary of the Local Branch is Charlie Sarell who lives in the village and has lived in the area for the last 15 years.
