Easter Crosses Festival

The Methodist Church invites organisations within the village to contribute to their Easter Crosses Festival. You can create a cross made out of whatever materials you wish, but no more than 152cm high. Alternatively, why not create a Garden of Gethsemane (no more than 46cm x 46cm)?

The crosses (or gardens) will be displayed from Good Friday through to the evening service on Easter Sunday (29th to 31st March) from 10am to 5pm. It would be marvellous to have someone from your organisation at the Sunday evening service - you could collect your cross or garden immediately afterwards.

Breaston Churches Together

Breaston Churches Together is a joining-together of St. Michael's Church and Breaston Methodist Church to co-operate on a wide variety of projects, including:

  • Village Welcome Packs
  • Village Christmas Card
  • Lunch Club
  • Messy Church
  • Services in residential homes
  • Carols outside the Co-op
  • Lent Courses
  • Church service for those who have been bereaved
  • Pentecost service on Duffield Close
  • United services
  • "Open The Book"
  • Easter Walk of Witness
  • Tea Tent at the Gala
  • Christian Aid collections
  • Experience Easter and Experience Christmas for school children

In addition, BCT has provided sponsorship for Breaston Park Football Club and the Breaston Good Neighbour Scheme.

Church organisations

The churches in Breaston are welcoming and friendly. As well as offering the things one might expect from a church - Sunday services, baptisms, weddings, funerals and so on, they each have a wide variety of other activities. Some of these are listed here; others are listed in other categories such as Elderly and Youth. They also co-operate on projects together under the banner of Breaston Churches Together.

Breaston Methodist Wesley Guild

The Wesley Guild meets weekly; their activities include visiting speakers, musical acts, slide shows, devotionals, Christian service and literary, cultural, musical and social sessions.

Women's Fellowship

The women's Fellowship has members who come from Breaston, Draycott, Borrowash and the Derby area.

We have a lively varied programme of events with meetings, outings (two per year), Garden and Tea parties, Christmas Lunches and a 'Giant' Jumble Sale in the Autumn.

St. Michael's Church
