In recent years, visiting walkers have increased as the multi-user Sustrans section is an all weather route along the line of the old Derby to Sandiacre Canal. This is now known as the Millennium Way. It is part of national cycle route 6.

Footpaths 19 and 20 come across from Draycott having commenced in High Wycombe. This route forms part of the Midshires Way going north around White Cottage towards Risley and finishes close to Stockport, a distance of 225 miles.

On the Southern side of the village, footpaths 13 and 14 will lead towards the Dales Estate and Sawley respectively. (Note that footpath 13 crosses the railway line so care is needed).

The most popular walk is called the Coffin Walk about which a leaflet is available from the Parish Council office. This walk can start by St Michael's Church forming a circular walk returning via Draycott. A visit to Church Wilne is recommended.
